Erica
The foremost studies of the Ericaceous belt in BMNP were undertaken by Miehe and Miehe (1994). More recently Yoseph Assefa undertook PhD research (Addis Ababa University) on the structure of Erica vegetation under different intensities of grazing and fire as well as Erica germination ecology in an attempt to understand the factors affecting Erica regeneration and overall persistence.
