Climate

As a result of the great variation in altitude in Bale massif, considerable variations in climatic conditions have been recorded in the National Park. The Bale Mountains experience 8 months of bimodal rainfall that include a heavy rain (July-October) and a small rain (April-June). Some 600-1000 mm falls annually in the lower altitude areas, and 1000-1400 mm in the higher altitude areas. The wet seasons are comparatively warm and the dry seasons are comparably colder at night and warmer during the day. The lowest recorded temperature on the highest plateau in Bale (Sanetti) was -15ºC and the maximum record was 26ºC. Similarly, the lowest recorded temperature in Dinsho and park headquarters area was -6ºC.
